Competitions

Competitions are the heartbeat of Antigranular. They provide a vibrant, engaging space where you can flex your data science muscles, challenge yourself, and engage with the differential privacy (DP) community.

At their core, our competitions serve a dual purpose. Firstly, they offer a feedback loop for you, the user, helping you gauge your skills and grow. Secondly, they provide invaluable insights to the wider DP community, acting as a litmus test for the practical applicability of privacy-enhancing tools.

How Competitions Work

You compete in competitions through the Antigranular Jupyter extension (which works on all popular Jupyter platforms: local notebooks, Google Colabs, Datalore, GitHub CodeSpaces).

To start competing in a competition, follow these steps:

  1. Start by signing up or signing in to Antigranular. You can create an account with a username and password, or with your Google or GitHub OAuth.

  2. Navigate to the competition you are interested in. There, you will find detailed information about the dataset, its metadata, the prizes and more.

  3. On the competition page, you will find a code snippet located in the top right corner, like the example shown below:

  4. Click on the code snippet to copy it. The copied code will include your OAuth client ID and secret for the competition. Paste it into your Jupyter Notebook and run the cell.

That's it! You are now connected to the competition. Go ahead and use Private Python from here to interface with the data and make your submissions to rank on the leaderboard.

Who Can Compete?

Everyone! We wholeheartedly encourage all data enthusiasts to participate. Whether you're a competitive veteran or a shy first-timer, there's a place for you here. Nervous about sharing your name? Don't worry. We give you the option to select a pseudonym, allowing you to compete under a moniker of your choice.

That's not all. To complement your pseudonym, you can also select a cool avatar to represent you. So you can keep your participation as private as you'd like.

The Bigger Picture

Beyond the thrill of competition, our goal is to create a vibrant ecosystem for data scientists and privacy enthusiasts. The competitions serve as a fun, engaging way to help you push the boundaries of privacy-first data science, learn new skills, and engage with a supportive community.

But they also play a crucial role in gathering feedback for the wider DP community and providing insights into the real-world applicability of privacy-enhancing technologies.

Join us in the quest to master privacy-first data science. Whether you're here for the thrill of the competition, a learning experience, or an opportunity to contribute to the DP community, we're excited to have you onboard!
